Guam Girl Scout will be offering a “Summer of STEM” camp during the month of July. Each week will be a different age level: Week 1 (July 2 – 6) Kinder and 1^st; Week 2 (July 9 – 13) 2^nd and 3^rd; Week 3 (July 16 – 20) 4^th and 5^th; Week 4 (July 23 – 27) 6^th through 12^th. Our camp runs from 9:00 – 3:30 every day. You will be assisting our camp facilitator with the activities scheduled during the week. You do not need to participate in every week, but all camp aides must attend a training on June 26 and 27 prior to assisting with camp. 
 

You can participate in as many weeks as you would like. Here is the breakdown of possible hours that you can potentially earn service learning hours for:
Week 1 (July 2-3,5-6): 8:30 - 2:30 - 6 hours x 4 days = 24 hours

Week 2 (July 9-13): 8:30 - 3:30 - 7 hours x 5 days = 35 hours

Week 3 (July 16-20): 8:30 - 3:30 - 7 hours x 5 days = 35 hours

Week 4 (July 23-27): 8:30 - 3:30 - 7 hours x 5 days = 35 hours

 

Preparation Instruction:
If you would like to volunteer for this activity, please provide the following information:

• Chosen Week(s) (Week 1 (July 2 – 6); Week 2 (July 6 – 13); Week 3 (July 16 – 20); Week 4 (July 23 – 27))

Please provide the information by Friday, June 22, 2018. You can call our center at 646-5652 on Tuesdays – Fridays from 9 – 5 or Saturdays 9 – 1 or email us at info.guamgirlscouts@gmail.com. 

All volunteers must attend Camp Aide training on Tuesday, June 26 and Wednesday, June 27 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm prior to assisting with camp. 

Activity Instruction:
Please arrive promptly at the Guam Girl Scout Center at 8:30 am. When you arrive, please see a staff member to sign in. At check in you will be assigned a table, where you will assist the girls throughout the day. Here is a brief outline of your day as a camp aide:

• Morning: Assist with signing in of girls, morning routines (GS Promise and Law), ice breaker, assist in set up
• Activities: Assist your table of girls with completing the ongoing activities
• Snack/Lunch: Assist with coordination of girls during snack/lunch times
• Afternoon: Assist with signing out of girls, afternoon routines (GS friendship circle), monitor girls during free play, assist in clean up

These activities are repeated every day. After camp has ended, please sign out with a Girl Scout staff member. 

Reflection Instruction:
We would like students to think about the importance of education and the importance of volunteering. You learn something new every day! Our camp gives girls the opportunities to learn and experience new kinds of activities that may not be as easily available in a classroom. Our camp is not possible without volunteers to assist with our girls. You are a big part of our summer camp!
