Sanctuary Incorporated of Guam 9th Annual Youth Fest

Sanctuary Incorporated of Guam 9th Annual Youth Fest

Sanctuary Incorporated of Guam will be hosting its 9th Annual Youth Festival on Saturday April 27, 2019 at the Festival Huts Chamorro Village in Hagatna from 11:00 am – 3: 00 pm.  This year's theme entitled #manhobenSTRONG will showcase a variety of talents from a diverse group of island youth. Learn how to lead a "strong" healthy lifestyle and share this information with others to earn service learning hours.

Preparation Instruction:
All students are invited to attend this free event, but students need to get permission from a teacher to attend Youth Fest for the purpose of earning service learning hours. All students need to report to the Festival Huts Chamorro Village in Hagatna  on Saturday April 27, 2019 between the hours of 11:00am – 3:00pm. Sign in with the Sanctuary table and pick up a passport. Student must visit all educational outreach tables and get their passports stamped.

Activity Instruction:
In order to earn service learning hours, students will need to share what they learned with peers who did not attend. This can be done by doing a class presentation in the week following Sanctuary's Youth Fest, making and sharing a poster, or a slide show of photos taken, or writing a song. Students can also use social media to share the educational messages. Use the hashtags: #guamservicelearning and #manhobenSTRONG. Be creative but remember that the service is the sharing!

Reflection Instruction:
In order to earn service learning hours, a reflection needs to be turned in to a teacher who can input the hours into Power School. You need to address: What did you do? What did you learn? How was this an example of public service?

Learning Standards/Objectives:

Objective: Students will be expected to extend lessons taught in their classes as it applies toward developing and supporting Sanctuary’s 9th Annual Youth Fest in promoting a better quality life for our island’s youth.
