Sågan Tinanom Nature Park – Plant Survey

Sågan Tinanom Nature Park – Plant Survey

Students are invited to conduct plant surveys within the Sagan Tinanom Nature Park in Dededo. You will use online and written information sources to help you identify, photograph, and catalog native and invasive plant species within designated areas of the park. You will also learn various concepts of forestry as they specifically relate to our island.

Sågan Tinanom Nature Park is a non-profit environmental program of the Ayuda Foundation, as well as a 10-acre educational forest, in the heart of the most heavily populated village on the island of Guåhan. It was established with the mission of revitalizing and repurposing the land into being a healthy, self-sustaining, educational forest, free of all invasive species. It is comprised of a diversity of indigenous, endemic, and presently endangered plant and animal wildlife. Students, visitors, and volunteers can gain awareness and appreciation for Guåhan’s native environment here, working with our staff to take action in protecting, propagating, and perpetuating conservation and sustainability throughout our island and beyond.
