Empower a Child. Inspire the Future
Students can earn service learning hours by being a mentor and assisting staff in the Mañe’lu programs.
Mañe’lu works with the underserved youth and families on programs such as:
- Site-based high school 1-1 mentoring - Create a life-changing friendship with a child and change their and your life forever.
- Site-based youth and family activities assistant: sports, gardening, hike, cooking classes, family fun Days, and other fun activities.
- Skills to Pay the Bills is a curriculum to help master your soft skills.
- Money Smart is a curriculum to help with financial literacy.
Preparation Instruction:
- Contact us to receive updated schedule of our activities and events.
- Have your Parent/Guardian complete and sign our volunteer form, permission form, and waiver and release form.
- Go to our website www.manelu.org to learn more about our programs and events
Activity Instruction:
- Decide what site you would like to be assigned to.
- When you report for this project, sign in with Site Coordinator
- At the times you are scheduled to attend, engage with participants in the various afterschool activities.
Reflection Instruction:
In order to earn service learning hours, a reflection needs to be turned in to a teacher who can input the hours into Power School. Reflection will address:
- What did you do?
- What did you learn?
- How do you think you made a difference?

Our objective is to:
- encourage positive behaviors and attitudes, self-concepts, social skills, communication skills, healthy eating habits, and physical activities.
- promote cultural awareness by engaging participation amongst children from various ethnic backgrounds and
- to have fun
