September - Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month
People can sign up virtually from Guam or anywhere around the world. Select a high school and/ or
village on Guam for our School / Village Challenge. 90% of proceeds will support Kurason I Sengsong/Island Girl Power Youth Programs and Environmental Campaigns.

AWARENESS MEMORIAL
World Suicide Prevention Day
DATE: September 10, 2024
TIME: 4pm-6pm
LOCATION: Kurason I Sengsong - Island Girl Power Center, Dededo (Google Maps)
Join us for a memorial walk and ribbon placement in honor of those affected by suicide. 1st ribbon is FREE, additional ribbons $5 donation each. See VIRTUAL for other options if you are not able to make it to our center.

Qualifications for Fee Waivers and Fee Exemptions
GUAM Service Learning Public High School Students register for FREE or choose to make a donation, 9 and under FREE

$30 Includes a Bib and Guam Gear Finisher T-shirt. (Shipping Included)
$10 Includes a Bib and a cup of SIRENA-TEA

1 Month Virtual Fitness Event that incorporates running, walking, biking, hiking or cleaning up places that are important to you. YOU CHOOSE! Track your distance with your phone or other fitness app. Complete 6,600 steps or 3.12 miles to FINISH.

Service Learning students register online for free, select their village and their school for the Village / School Challenge. Decide if they want to participate IN PERSON or VIRTUAL at a location of their choice. Take pictures and videos to share on their social media accounts or send to us for us to post. #Guam5K #FocusOnLifeGuam #GuamServiceLearning #guam5k.com #FanogeParaLina'La'.
Send Guam Service Learning your photo or video post to us to receive your Service Learning Project Completion Certificate via WhatsApp at 671-688-4752.
While taking action we encourage you to remember the cause and place suicide prevention ribbons around your village or in the state or country you are in. The Suicide Awareness colors are purple and teal.

Preparation Instruction:
This event is a fundraiser for The Kurason I Sengsong dba Island Girl Power Organization
In order to prepare for this project it's important for you to do the following:

* Research September's Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month 
* Register online at GUAM5K.com SIGN UP as a Service Learning Student
* Encourage your friends and family to register. All other people registering pay $30 and will receive a Runners Bib and T-Shirt
* Research Kurason I Sengsong and the programs they offer to the community
* Help us promote this event by sharing it with others

Plan and Decide
* Do you want to run this service learning project alone or with a group of your friends, classmates or family members?
* Do you want to participate as an IN PERSON participant or VIRTUAL participant?
* Do you want to Run, Walk, Hike, Bike or set up a clean up at a beach or around your neighborhood?
