Preparation Instruction:
Read article in the Pacific Daily News (link above).
Make sure you have a teacher who will support you in inputting the number of hours you deserve for this project.
Activity Instruction:
Collect donations.
Deliver to collection site.
Take pictures of your efforts and delivery, if possible. Post to social media, if possible. Use hashtag #typhoonmangkhutrelief #guamservicelearning
Reflection Instruction:
In order to earn service learning hours, a reflection needs to be turned in to a teacher who can input the hours into Power School. You need to address: What did you do? What did you learn? How was this an example of public service?
Justify the number of hours you think you deserve for your participation in this project in your reflection. An hour of shopping, an hour of delivery, an hour of reflection = 3. If you do more than that, for example, coordinating with others, then write it in your reflection.
Learning Standards/Objectives:
Social Studies: Government and Civics AG.4.17
Explain the importance of thoughtful and effective participation in civic life, including the following:
• Performing public service
• Keeping informed about current issues (poverty, homelessness, vulnerability in times of disaster)
